EUREKA VOL FIRE CO. SIGNS CONTRACT TO PROVIDE ALS SERVICES

Sunday May 16, 2021 marks the start of National EMS Week which is a time to recognize and honor EMS professionals for their tireless dedication to their communities—not just during this pandemic but every day.” For the past two years Eureka officials have met on numerous occasions to discuss ways to improve EMS services to our community and it’s residents which include the following municipalities: Stewartstown Borough, Hopewell Twp, East Hopewell Twp, Cross Roads Borough and parts of North Hopewell Twp. Currently Eureka provides Basic Life Support (BLS) services 24-hours per day. In January this year after numerous meetings we decided to start providing Advanced Life Support (ALS-Medic) to our coverage area which will give our residents a better response time. Currently we rely on ALS services from several sources including UPMC (Red Lion), Rose EMS (New Freedom), Southern York Co EMS and even on occasion units from Harford Co and Baltimore Co in Maryland. Our local municipal officials have agreed to provide this service for a one year period as a trial.

Eureka signed a contract with UPMC to begin providing ALS services set to begin on Monday May 17th from the hours of 7:00AM until 7:00PM. The ALS unit will be stationed inside the fire station located at 82 N Main St in Stewartstown. The unit will be designated as Medic 270.
