2023-2025 Refuse & Recycling Contract Awarded

***UPDATE MONDAY DECEMBER 5th. **

You may have or should be receiving your first quarter 2023 bill from Penn Waste this week. This bill was to include a flyer outlining the new contract and  the changes. We were notified that flyer did not go out before the bills nor in the bills, but rather a few days after the bills were sent. This is causing confusion for many. On behalf of the Township we apologize for this. Please be on the look out for the flyer coming this week outlining the new contract. Below is the summary we have had on the website since the fall. Penn Waste is asking any resident with specific questions to call their customer service directly at 717-767-4456.

A new contract for the weekly collection of refuse & recycling was awarded to Penn Waste, which takes effect January 1, 2023. The new contract was awarded after receiving only one sealed bid, Penn Waste. This is a two year contract that allows a two year extension renewal. Penn Waste will be sending notices to all residents who currently have a contract in the months to come. Below is the summary of the contract.

Pick Up will REMAIN two days a week for refuse and one day a week for recycling.

Bulk items: One per week: It will be required to call 24 hours before pick up (currently it is not required to call)

Basic Service: 

  • Billed Quarterly: Year one price: $113.10
  • Refuse picked up 2x a week (Tuesday & Friday), recycling one day per week (Friday)
  • One bulk item weekly- with call to Penn Waste 24 hours prior
  • *** A 96 Gallon Mobile Cart will be provided by Penn Waste, and will be required for all refuse  ***  This will be included in the quarterly cost.
  • *** A 64 Gallon Mobile Cart will be provided by Penn Waste for and will be required for all recycle items ***  This will be included in the quarterly cost.

Low Volume:

  • Billed Quarterly (this is a change for those currently on low volume who pay twice a year): Year one quarterly Price: $69.75
