| At the September 4, 2008 public meeting, the Township Supervisors unanimously voted to adopt a voluntary trash contract effective January 1, 2009. The bid was awarded to York Waste Disposal and includes three service options: 1) Basic Service ($68.25/qtr) includes two pick-ups/week, four containers each pick-up (Tuesdays and Fridays), curbside recycling (Tuesdays), and the option to place one bulk item curbside one time/week (Fridays). A bulk item would include furniture, appliances and other large items. Please call York Waste ahead of time if the item contains freon; 2) Low Volume Option ($4.30/bag). You are required to purchase 13 bags every 6 months in order to be eligible to participate in curbside recycling. This option does not entitle you to a weekly bulk item pick up. With this option, you will be billed $55.90 every six months by York Waste Disposal. You may have the bags mailed to your home (shipping is additional) or pick them up here at the Township office ; 3) "Pay As You Throw" ($4.30/bag) as needed-this option does not include curbside recycling or bulk item pick up. Bags may be purchased through York Waste Disposal or the Township Office. Christmas trees will be collected at any time and will not count as a bag of trash. A bag of yard waste, including grass clippings or leaves, will be counted as a bag of trash. If you have any questions you may call York Waste at 717-845-1557 or 1-800-210-9675 or visit www.yorkwaste.com. Select online services.
